North Shore, HI (December 5, 2017) – KMC WHEELS announced today that for the 2nd year running they will be awarding the XD Hard Charger Award to the local Hawaiian surfer that charges the hardest during the Triple Crown will be awarded with a set of XD Series wheels following the competition. It is the season where the world’s best surfers join the local Hawaiians on the North Shore, and the stakes remain high with careers on the line.  Local surfers in contention for the KMC XD Series wheels are being judged based on the following criteria throughout the six-week contest series: overall competition, free surfing, wipeouts and XXL wave selection. The winner of the inaugural award last year was Finn McGill (pictured below with KMC sponsored surfer Jamie O’Brien) and the KMC Rockstar wheels he won last year along with XD Trophy.

“The North Shore of Oahu remains home to some of the most prestigious professional surfers around the world,” said Jody Groce, President, KMC Wheels. “KMC Wheels would like to honor the local pro who puts it all on the line as careers are started and reputations are solidified. We are very excited to be part of the final stop of the year and would like to wish each competitor well as they battle in the Triple Crown.”

The KMC XD Series were built for individuals that require precise equipment for imprecise environments. The wheels remain lightweight, strong, and race tested and approved.
