KMC was honored to be a part of the new Dan Huseman
Menzies Motorsport AWD Trophy Truck build. This truck being all-wheel drive isn’t something new to the sport as there are a couple of builders already doing it but that’s about where the similarities end.
When we got the specs for the new wheel, it was very similar to a Pro 4 short course specification. This had to do with Huseman using a lot of design influences from his experience building championship winning short course trucks. Keeping the truck low and bringing the track width back in with a high offset wheel helps to correct the steering geometry and not be too wide overall.
We cut the new wheel from a 6061 forged aluminum blank. This allows us to build the most durable wheel possible and also save weight over a cast wheel. The new forged wheel complimented the rest of the over the top accessories on this build like carbon fiber body, skid plates, fuel cell and everything else they could make out of carbon fiber, F1 six-speed sequential paddle shift, Wiseman front differential. One other trick feature is air-conditioned Parker pumpers and drink system. The only thing this truck doesn’t have is Tesla’s autopilot system.
