Busy race weekend for Travis Pastrana
May 28 2012
CHARLOTTE, NC. (May 27, 2012) – It was a busy racing weekend for Travis Pastrana, who competed in the History 300 NASCAR Nationwide race at Charlotte Motor Speedway before taking on the 2012 rallycross season opener later the same day.
In the Nationwide race, No. 99 Boost Mobile Toyota driver Travis Pastrana finished 24th after spins during qualifying and competition.
“We did not have a really good day,” said Pastrana, who counts KMC among his sponsors. “We just struggled all day. I need to work harder on getting the car ready for the race during practice.”
Pastrana did not damage his Toyota, but was forced to pit road for four fresh tires. The Maryland native struggled with an ill-handling race car for most of the race and spun again on lap 62 to bring out another caution.
In rallycross competition later that day, he fell prey to an aggressive bump by a rival driver and was unable to finish the winner-takes-all Final race.
Even so, he looked strong in the team’s brand new rallycross Dodge Dart, and is optimistic for the next round at Texas Motor Speedway on June 9.
He will be back behind the wheel of the No. 99 Boost Toyota on July 14th at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
