BRYCE MENZIES Wins 50th Aniversary Mint 400

Menzies wins The Mint 400 for the second time!

Las Vegas, NV (March 7, 2018) – The Mint kicked off this year with the signature parade down the Las Vegas strip. Hundreds of trucks revved their motors down Las Vegas Boulevard to iconic downtown Fremont Street. “It’s so cool how Mad Media and Best in the Desert put this all together to get thousands of people walking down the strip exposed to the sport we love so much. I look forward to this every year” said Menzies.

Bryce and the team made their way out to Apex, NV for qualifying on March 8th, 2018. The draw for start position had Bryce just inside the top 30. With a leading fast lap going into the last turn of the qualifying course, Menzies pushed through two massive holes making him slow down to avoid hitting cones and ended the day with the 7th fastest time.

Race day started off with overcast skies, moderate wind, and light rainfall throughout the day. With conditions like these, every racer was ready to start this grueling 350+ mile race. Menzies started fourth row side by side off the start. Menzies moved up one spot to 6th place after just the second turn. From race mile 10 to race mile 100 Menzies kept a solid pace while passing lap traffic from the morning race. On Lap 2 Menzies had a scheduled full pit stop that was executed in just under 40 seconds. That’s over 90 gallons of fuel, two tires, hydration for the driver and back out for another lap. This being a loop course makes each lap more brutal than before. Thus, exposing massive rocks in sand and on the outside corners. Bryce still managed to not suffer one flat tire while he was ripping the Nevada desert on his BFG KR3 tires.

Bryce by the end of lap 2 was now 3rd physically on the road but still down on time to the leader. With 118 miles left Bryce knew it was time to turn it on a push. “Finding out we were down about 3 minutes going out on the last lap, I knew we had to pick up the pace and make things happen” said Menzies. He did just that with passing second truck on the road with about 40 miles left in the race. He pushed into the leaders dust and by the time Menzies finished he pushed out the first finisher by only 28 seconds. “To win this race for the second time, in front of my hometown and my entire team. There’s no better feeling! We did it!” said Bryce.

It capped an awesome weekend for Menzies Motorsports and Bryce Menzies and is a testament to the team; the team’s partners and their resolve to always battle back in the face of adversity.  The team’s next race is the SCORE San Felipe 250.
