Pflueger Finds New Hub with KMC Wheels
Murrieta, Calif. (April 19, 2007) - New look, new title sponsor and new series, but Alan Pflueger is up to his old ways-strategically making his mark in the off-road racing circuit. Still a star in SCORE, Pflueger (a.k.a. Fearless Pflueger and the Flyin' Hawaiian), is adding Championship Off-Road Racing (CORR) to his résumé.
This is the first full venture into CORR by the successful Hawaiian businessman and he's bringing the No. 28 Chevrolet Silverado Pro 2 truck, sponsored by KMC Wheels, with him. This new season will begin April 21, 2007, at the Antelope Valley Fairgrounds 60 miles north of Los Angeles.
"I got my first taste of short-track desert racing last year at Terrible's Cup," said Pflueger. "I loved every minute of it and was thrilled for a second-place finish. When I saw what CORR was offering this year-a great schedule, network coverage and amazing courses-I had to get a piece of the action. And if I can put KMC Wheels in victory lane, we'll all win."
And winning's the plan. Not just anyone can make the choice to join two-and-a-half weeks from race day, but Pflueger and his team took the plunge and are working feverishly to make the deadline. "I knew I was asking a lot of the team, but I also knew that if anyone could pull this together, John [Hoffman, Crew Chief], Mike [Emerson, Business Manager] and the team could," said Pflueger.
How could KMC resist sponsorship when Pflueger announced his newest conquest into the CORR circuit?! "KMC Wheels is pleased to be sponsoring Pflueger Racing and their introduction to CORR. We feel honored to be a part of a team that has such a high level of professionalism and commitment to off-road racing. They will undoubtedly help to take the sport to the next level," said Colbey Groom in charge of motorsports with KMC Wheels.
In SCORE, Pflueger currently sits in third place, only three points shy of first. During his first full year in 2002, Pflueger won the Primm 300 and the famous Baja 1000 on the Protruck series, finishing second in points and earning Rookie of the Year honors.
Following up his first year, Pflueger won the Protruck Championship in 2003, the San Felipe 250, the Baja 500 and the Primm 300. Pflueger moved to the elite Trophy Class in 2004, winning the Baja 500 and the Primm 300. He finished 4th in the 2005 Primm 300 and was runner-up in the Baja 1000. Pflueger also scored runner-up finishes in 2006 in the Baja 500 and the Terrible's Cup II non-points event.
